Growing With Gratitude’s Chosen Charity
“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.”
Part of the Growing With Gratitude journey is acknowledging the things we each have to be thankful for in our daily lives and looking for ways that we can give back to those around us.
And as part of the program we learn that lending a helping hand or sharing our privileges with those less fortunate not only benefits them. Research has shown that giving to someone else, whether it be your time or money, has huge effect on increasing your future happiness.
This is why Growing With Gratitude has decided to walk the talk and pay it forward by choosing a different charity each year to support.
Pencils of Promise – our Chosen Charity for 2015/16
Living in a developed country most of us are lucky enough to have access to clean drinking water, electricity, and good medical care, as well as access to a good education.
But many millions of children around the world aren’t as privileged, and in fact many don’t have access to a school or sometimes even a pencil.
Pencils of Promise, our Chosen Charity this year, is a for-purpose organisation that builds schools, trains teachers and funds scholarships around the world and 100% of their online donations go to their programs. It was founded by a young guy who experienced first hand the lack of resources many children face while he was travelling around the world.
Growing With Gratitude has started a Pencils Of Promise fundraising page here and we are hoping to raise enough money through the year to build a school for children in Ghana.
There are a number of ways you can help us reach our goal:
- Like our Facebook page. For every like Growing With Gratitude will donate $1 to funding our Pencils of Promise school.
- Donate to our Pencils Of Promise fundraising page yourself here
- Run a Pocket Money Challenge with your students or children and encourage them to donate one week’s pocket money to Pencils of Promise.
