HOW WE CRACKED THE CODE TO POSITIVE EDUCATION

  • CULTIVATION: Explicitly teach & conscious practice. Gratitude & other positive habits is like learning a skill is a sport. We must practice.
  • TIME ALLOCATION: it centres around allocating time to allow students to
consciously cultivate gratitude/positive habits. The good news? We don’t have to spend hours a day to cultivate in an already crowded curriculum.
  • CONSISTENCY: Many teachers will only do a positive education activity every
now and then. To build a habit requires consistent, conscious practice.
  • FUN & ENGAGING: in our research we discovered Students find some of the
well known activities that help cultivate gratitude & other positive habits boring.
  • REFRAMING: Teaching students (and yourself) how to reframe is one of the most powerful skills a person can learn. Through implementing the other 4 key steps reframing is the ultimate skill we are aiming to embed within our students. Reframing grows gratitude, kindness, empathy, mindfulness, resilience, a growth mindset and ultimately happy people.

THE GREAT NEWS?
WE HAVE SET IT UP FOR YOU.

A FULLY RESOURCED PROGRAM. EVIDENCED BASED. DESIGNED BY A TEACHER, WHO GETS IT.
FOR TIME POOR TEACHERS & BUSY SCHOOLS

CORPORATE

We introduce simple strategies to motivate your team and empower them to take control of their own happiness. GWG Corporate can present on different topics depending on the needs of the team.

SCHOOLS

The GWG schools program builds and protects children’s mental health. We do this by teaching student skills based on gratitude, kindness, empathy, mindfulness and serving others, resulting in greater resilience and happiness. Furthermore we are teaching students skills to overcome adversity and challenges, as well as teaching students to be good citizens.

SPORTS

A fully resourced program that makes it simple for the club and coaches to include gratitude, kindness, empathy, mindfulness & serving others practice into training sessions and matches.

TEACHER WELLBEING

We’ve teamed up with Be Intent to create well-being technology tool designed specifically for educators. The tool prompts what is needed, delivers solutions and measures the results.

“The Growing with Gratitude Program empowers primary-school aged children with valuable tools and skills to help them lead healthy, successful and productive lives. “This contributes to the Education Department’s Wellbeing for Learning and Life Framework, which supports students to be more resilient and engaged in positive experiences, form stronger friendships, be more optimistic and show increased self-esteem.”

John Gardner MP
Minister For Education
South Australia

“Mt Tarcoola Primary School absolutely love Growing with Gratitude. Cultivating an attitude of gratitude changes the whole feel of our classrooms. It is amazing to witness how gratitude can transform a challenging day into a much calmer one.”

LATEST PROJECTS

GROWING WITH GRATITUDE MINECRAFT GAME

Growing With Gratitude have teamed up with Microsoft to create a Growing With Gratitude Minecraft Education game.

Recently a group of lucky students from Kilkenny Primary School in Adelaide had the opportunity to go into the Microsoft offices and help co-design a Growing With Gratitude Minecraft Education World/Game.

The game teaches gratitude, kindness, empathy, positive reflection and service. Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the World. We look forward to the GWG game launching very soon.

A huge shout out to Steven from Microsoft who flew in from Perth to help with the design.

GROWING WITH GRATITUDE IN SOUTH AFRICA

Over the past 6 months we’ve been working away with South African based, Cape Town Child Welfare Society, South Africa’s largest child welfare organisation. CTCWS promote the wellbeing of all children, predominantly those in poor socio-economic communities by protecting those in crisis and at risk, enhancing the capacity of families and communities to protect and develop their children.

At Growing With Gratitude we have customised a program, where the Social Workers will guide families in implementing gratitude, kindness, empathy, positive reflection and service practice in their homes. Full credit to the organisation, as they have modified GWG to be an intervention strategy to assist the Children and Families in their care.

Last week the team presented how Growing With Gratitude will be rolled out to the Social Workers at the Cape Town Child Welfare Society. A big shout out to Louise Bearman who facilitated the session. Louise has also been instrumental in getting the program off the ground. All reports it was brilliant. Check out their work here: helpkids.org.za

GROWING WITH GRATITUDE
Multi-Sports

Growing With Gratitude Multi-sports launched in term 4, 2018.
We ran one centre at St Johns Grammar, Junior School – Belair. Term 3, 2019 we will run 6.
GWG Multi-Sports is for 3 – 5 year old pre-school children.
We also run a program for your people with delayed development.
It’s here we combine sports & positive psychology principles to build life long skills.

FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT & SKILLS PRACTICE
Each session will focus on 1 or 2 fundamental skills. For e.g. Hitting & Striking. To practice hitting & striking we will
use equipment from hitting & striking sports, such as cricket, t-ball, etc. We also include fundamental
movement skills into warm ups.

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL SKILLS PRACTICE
Each session will also include, what we call “planting the seed” for resilience and happiness.
Just like sports skills, we can also practice social & emotional skills.
We incorporate simple ways to practice gratitude, kindness, positive reflection and service.
